Elstree (EGTR)
The plan was simple getting kicked out of the house by Caz and go for a solo bimble - first to remind myself which way up KK goes, then meet Jack later for a proper flight. I haven't seen Jack since November, and he's been off doing his ATPLs/CPLs whatknots because apparently more exams is what every pilot needs. Lots of catching up to do, most of it in the air. Caz had the lurgy so no peanuts on this flight.
The bimble went west from Elstree. East was a no-go. Duxford, Old Warden and Damyns Hall were all running airshows, which makes the airspace east of Elstree about as relaxing as the M25 on a Friday. Weekends are not normally when I'd choose to fly, but right now they're the only time work lets me anywhere near an airfield, so weekend it is.
Rusty? Very, although my landings are improving again - I can see the centreline!! Doubts? Plenty. There's a moment on every flight after a long break where you're wondering what you have missed. You should always be ahead of the aeroplane, not letting it fly you, but I am getting more into the groove so to speak. Elstree was busy, the radio was busy. The fact the tower totally forgot I existed despite the fact I'd taken off forty-five minutes earlier didn’t help - but they were busy.
Hopefully there will be videos from both flights. There are a few already in the editing list, so the YouTube channel will be waking up properly soon. Things didn’t all go to plan as I now think I need a new T-shirt with DID YOU PRESS RECORD???? printed across the front. Reasons will become clear. Overall, I think I'm getting back into flying. I keep telling myself I just need to go flying. Everyone else keeps telling me I need to go flying. And make more videos. Hopefully the weather holds up before my wallet discovers the current price of fuel.
